Urgent help in a crisis

A mental health crisis can mean different things to different people. It can include:

  • thinking about suicide or acting on suicidal thoughts

  • severely self-harm

  • experiencing psychosis, where you are out of touch with reality

  • being in a situation that could put you or other people at risk

If you need urgent help but it’s not an emergency, call 111 (press 2 for mental health advice and support).

Journey Recovery Hub - Twickenham

If you are struggling or feel at risk of a crisis, your local Recovery Café can help. It’s a free, out-of-hours, walk-in service where you can talk to someone who understands.

Open to people linked to South London and Maudsley NHS Trust (face to face).

NHS mental health support

If you are not in crisis and need NHS support, you will usually need a referral from a GP or another professional.

You will have an appointment for an initial assessment with a GP or a Primary Care Mental Health Nurse. They will talk with you and decide what support is right for you.

Free support for common mental health problems, such as anxiety and depression.

This service is for adults aged 18 or over who live in the borough or are registered with a Richmond GP.

You can refer yourself or ask a health professional to refer you.

Free courses and workshops to support mental health recovery.

Open to people linked to South London and Maudsley NHS Trust (face to face).

Online sessions are free and open to anyone.
