Be Well programme

The Be Well programme was set up in 2021 by South London Listens and community leaders. It helps tackle loneliness and poor mental health by creating safe spaces in the community

Be Well spaces are local places where people can find connection and support. They are run by trusted organisations such as community centres, schools, libraries, faith groups, health centres, football clubs and cafés.

Each Be Well space offers:

  • a friendly place to talk and build connections

  • activities to improve wellbeing and reduce isolation

  • practical support and signposting to other services

  • a chance to join with others to address local inequalities

You can see the full list of Be Well organisations further down this page.

How to start a Be Well hub

Be Well organisations are at the heart of the programme. They receive training and support to give staff and volunteers the skills to support local people.

Benefits of joining include:

  • helping reduce stigma around mental health

  • development opportunities for staff and volunteers

  • stronger links with the NHS and local authorities

  • raising your profile in your borough

Become a Be Well Champion

At the heart of every hub are Be Well Champions — local people trained to listen, support and connect their communities. They bring mental health conversations into everyday places and link residents with the right help.

Resources for leaders

Every hub leader and Champion has access to practical tools, guides and networks to make running a hub easier. From safeguarding and signposting to action plan templates and campaign resources, everything is designed to help you support your community with confidence.

As part of Be Well, you’re never working alone. Leaders across south London share ideas, swap resources and build partnerships that strengthen everyone’s work.
