South London Listens launches new Arab community partnership
We are delighted to announce a new Be Well Partnership between M3LeshUK, the NHS and Citizens UK.
M3LeshUK is an organisation led by 2 women, Enas and Dina, who are building a large network across the Arab community aiming to provide opportunities to support wellbeing, community healing and networking.
We recently launched our partnership at an M3Lesh event attended by 400 people on Saturday 10 May in Twickenham. At the event the Be Well team spoke about the support and empowerment that the Be Well programme can offer grass roots organisations. Which includes access to initial mental health awareness and community organising training, with follow up training, coaching and support to build relationships across health systems.
One of our first steps will be to create our current mental health training in Arabic to be delivered in early Autumn. This will enable the community to create Be Well champions who will work towards listening to the community around their needs and experience of accessing NHS services. This is a first step in a key aim of strengthening partnership working with the NHS.
Ranjeet Kailie, Director of Communications and Stakeholder Engagement at South London and the Maudsley NHS Trust and South East London ICB spoke at the event and said:
"It is a privilege to be here today to start to strengthen our relationship with the Arab community, we know from our work on South London Listens that we can learn much from our community leaders, helping us shape our services and take action together on health inequalities. We really look forward to working with you."
Commenting after the event, Enas Elghrouri, Co- Founder of M3lesh UK said:
“Our partnership with the NHS through South London Listens is more than a collaboration – it’s a shared commitment to restoring dignity, voice and wellbeing in communities too often overlooked. At M3leshUK, we focus on the Arab community in the UK, working to dismantle stigma and offer culturally rooted support where it is most needed. We believe healing begins when people feel seen, heard, and understood in their own language and context. Together we are building safe spaces where mental health is not a taboo, but a conversation, a support system, and a path to connection and belonging.”
M3Lesh are now continuing to develop their monthly events to scale their opportunities to build engagement and provide support.
