For healthcare professionals
Together, we can tackle the wider causes of poor health and make care more accessible, inclusive, and effective.
As healthcare professionals, you see every day how housing, work, and social conditions affect people’s health. South London Listens was created to tackle these root causes, by linking NHS partners with communities across all 12 south London boroughs.
Our approach strengthens the NHS’s ability to respond to health inequalities. It also helps you connect with communities in new ways — building trust, improving access, and co-producing solutions.
What South London Listens offers
We work with health professionals at every level:
Listening and engagement — creating safe spaces where patients, carers and staff can share their experiences.
Partnership working — bringing together ICBs, trusts, councils and grassroots groups to address the wider determinants of health.
Leadership development — training more than 900 community leaders and healthcare staff in community organising and mental health awareness.
Practical tools — through Be Well hubs, safe surgeries, and resources for frontline staff.
Key areas of focus for you
Housing and health — identifying patients at risk from poor housing and connecting them to advocacy and support.
Work and wages — supporting campaigns for fair pay and recognising how insecure employment impacts health.
Children and young people — working with schools, CAMHS, and families to reduce waiting times and improve engagement.
Access for migrants and refugees — supporting safe surgeries and embedded community workers to make care more inclusive.
